Head Of The Charles Regatta, the world’s largest two-day rowing event, was first held on October 16, 1965. The race was established by the Cambridge Boat Club members D’Arcy MacMahon, Howard McIntyre, and Jack Vincent, with the advice of Harvard University sculling instructor Ernest Arlett. Arlett proposed that a “head of the river” race similar in tradition to races held in his native England, be held on the Charles River.

The Era of Good Feelings describes a period in the U.S. in the history of political parties, the bitterness declined. The term was coined by Benjamin Russell, the newspaper in Boston, Columbian CENTINEL, 12 July 1817, following the good will in Boston visit of President James Monroe.
Policy bitterness declined because the federalists have largely dissolved and no longer attack the president, then performs an era of high spirits, because there was only one political party. The nation was politically united behind the Democratic-Republican Party. The era of good feelings began after the War of 1812. The Hartford Convention of 1814-15 underlined the collection of insincerity of the Federation during the war.

Thursday is National Boss’s Day, while Sweetest Day isn’t until Saturday. But even if the boss isn’t really a sweetheart, these two days indeed do have something in common. Both are bonanzas for the peddlers of greeting cards, candy and flowers
Sweetest Day is an observance celebrated primarily in the Great Lakes region and parts of the Northeast United States on the third Saturday in October. It is described by Retail Confectioners International as an “occasion which offers all of us an opportunity to remember not only the sick, aged and orphaned, but also friends, relatives and associates whose helpfulness and kindness we have enjoyed.” Sweetest Day has also been referred to as a “concocted promotion” created by the candy industry solely to increase sales of candy.
